O or Y

Do you know difference between Jello and Jelly?

When I was working at cafeteria, my boss offered to add more "Jello".
So, I went to storage to pick its can and added it in an empty vat.
But the boss said to me it wasn't jello.
She said the can which I grabbed was "Jelly" and not "Jello"
Oh, no!!(>_<) I didn't know Jelly is for bread and Jello is made from gelatine. We don't use a word, Jello and Jelly is jello in Japan. Just O or Y had a big difference but it was cultural mistake. Incidentally, jelly in English is called Jam in Japanese.
